Performing Arts – Shires MAT Personal Experiences
Our Trust Approach to the Performing Arts
The Performing Arts are a powerful element of the Shires MAT Personal Experiences offer. Through music, drama and performance, pupils develop confidence, creativity, collaboration and self‑expression.
We believe that every pupil should have opportunities to perform, create and experience the arts, regardless of prior experience or confidence.
What Pupils Experience Across the Trust
Across the Trust, pupils participate in a wide range of performing arts experiences, including:
- Performances at class, school and Trust level
- Trust‑wide festivals, showcases and collaborative events
- Opportunities to work with artists and practitioners
- Performance experiences that support personal confidence and communication
Performing Arts experiences are carefully planned to ensure progression and are celebrated across the Trust community.
Building Confidence and Cultural Capital
Through the Performing Arts, pupils are supported to take creative risks, develop resilience and gain cultural experiences that enrich their wider education. These opportunities contribute significantly to pupils’ personal development and sense of achievement.
Message from the Trust Performing Arts Lead
Performing Arts – How We Measure Impact
How We Measure Impact
We assess the impact of Performing Arts experiences by looking at how they support pupils’ confidence, creativity and personal growth.
Impact is measured through:
- Participation and access – ensuring all pupils have opportunities to engage in performance experiences
- Quality and progression – reviewing the range and development of performance opportunities across phases
- Pupil reflection and voice – capturing pupil feedback on confidence, self‑expression and enjoyment
- Celebration and achievement – recognising performances, effort and commitment across schools and at Trust level
This approach ensures that Performing Arts experiences remain inclusive, ambitious and transformative for pupils across the Trust.
